FAQs

All you need to know about CBD

CBD, short for cannabidiol, is a chemical compound from the Cannabid sativa plant, which is also known as marijuana or hemp. It’s a naturally occurring substance that’s used in products like oils and edibles to impart a feeling of relaxation and calm. Unlike its cousin, Delta 9 THC, which is the major active ingredient in marijuana, CBD is not psychoactive.

In 2017, the WHO published a CBD Pre-Review Report stating that CBD appears to have no potential for abuse or dependence from its use. The report states that CBD is well tolerated by the human body and has a good safety profile, and that any adverse effects appear to be the result of its interaction with certain patient medications.

Furthermore, the report notes that several countries have already modified their national controls to accommodate CBD as a medicinal product and that to date there is no evidence of recreational use of CBD, nor of any public health problems related to the consumption of pure CBD.

However, like most therapies, the use of CBD can carry some risks. We always recommend you to consult a medical professional before using any product.

Experts also believe that marijuana use during pregnancy can affect fetal neuron development. Therefore, people are advised not to use CBD during pregnancy or while breastfeeding.

There are two main players that are found in the cannabis plant, CBD and THC. While THC is highly psychotropic and can create an elated and euphoric state, CBD, on the contrary, is the non-psychoactive portion of the plant. However, every human is unique, be sure to know your individual reaction to any new supplements you consume.

Our production process ensures high quality in all our products. We invite you to try and get to know the variety of CBD products we have for you.

The internet is full of people excited about CBD as the solution for a host of ailments, but these claims are not as scientifically backed up as cannabis. For this reason, no absolute claims can be made about the benefits of CBD; however, many users have reported that CBD can improve their lifestyle and support their overall wellbeing. Let’s take a look at some of the studies that have been conducted on the potential benefits of CBD below:

Natural pain relief and anti-inflammatory properties

Conventional medications can help relieve stiffness and pain, but some people see CBD as a more natural alternative. Studies with mice showed that CBD reduces inflammation by preventing the release of compounds that trigger inflammation in the body. CBD applied to the skin as an ointment can significantly reduce inflammatory skin disease and scarring.

Smoking cessation and drug abstinence

A 2013 pilot study found that smokers who used inhalers containing CBD smoked fewer cigarettes than usual and stopped craving nicotine. This suggests that CBD can help people quit smoking. Another study in 2018 found that CBD helped reduce cravings during tobacco withdrawal due to its relaxing effect.

Researchers observed that CBD reduced some symptoms associated with substance use disorders. These included anxiety, mood-related symptoms, pain and insomnia. All this research continues to support the use of CBD to manage withdrawal symptoms.

Epilepsy

After years of research into the safety and efficacy of CBD oil to treat epilepsy, the FDA approved the use of Epidiolex, a purified form of CBD, in 2018.

Scientists are beginning to understand how CBD prevents seizures without the sedating side effects of previously used drugs. There are no synthetic drugs yet that target the endocannabinoid system like CBD does.

Alzheimer’s disease

In 2014, a rodent study showed that CBD could help people retain the ability to recognize familiar faces. Another study in 2019 found that CBD could help delay the onset and progression of Alzheimer’s disease. More research is underway to better understand how CBD helps in the treatment of Alzheimer’s disease.

Cancer treatments

Studies conducted in 2012 found evidence that CBD may help prevent the spread of some types of cancer. The compound appears to suppress the growth of cancer cells and promote their destruction.

A 2020 study looks at the addition of CBD to chemotherapy drugs to improve the immune system’s response to cancer treatment. Other research has also looked at how CBD may help prevent the growth of cancer cells, reduce anxiety, improve the action of chemotherapy and reduce the side effects of conventional chemotherapy.

Anxiety

CBD can help reduce anxiety while THC (delta 9) often triggers or amplifies feelings of anxiety and paranoia. This is why doctors often advise people with chronic anxiety to avoid cannabis (delta 9 THC). A study conducted in 2019 showed that CBD significantly reduced symptoms in mice with anxiety.

Studies had been done since 2015 where it had been suggested that CBD could help reduce anxiety-related behaviors in people with the following conditions of PTSD, general anxiety disorder (GAD), panic disorder, social anxiety disorder and obsessive-compulsive disorder.

The authors noted that current treatments for anxiety may have adverse effects, and some people stop using them for this reason. However, there is no evidence to confirm that CBD has significant adverse effects.

Type 1 diabetes

Type 1 diabetes occurs when the immune system attacks the cells of the pancreas, leading to inflammation. In 2016, a study was conducted in an animal population, which showed remarkable reductions in the damage caused by this condition thanks to the use of CBD, given its anti-inflammatory effects that act on the pancreas and protect or delay the onset of type 1 diabetes. This indicates that the substance has great therapeutic potential in these cases.

Neuropathy is one of the most common types of damage seen in diabetes. CBD is known among other things for its analgesic and anti-inflammatory properties, so everything points to it being a great treatment for this condition. It is therefore said that CBD could improve the quality of life of diabetic patients in the medium term by reducing pain from diabetic neuropathy

Acne

It has been studied that CBD can reduce sebum production, inflammation and the proliferation of skin cells within the pores, leading to an overall reduction in acne symptoms.

Also, topical application of CBD can reduce inflammation in psoriasis and other inflammatory skin conditions. This is why CBD is becoming a more common ingredient in skin creams and ointments. However, more research on the efficacy of CBD is still needed.

At Astria Farm we seek to transform your lifestyle through our commitment to hemp derivative research. You can choose from the variety of high quality CBD products we have for you.

We have different ways to consume CBD including: CBD gummies, CBD vape cartridges, CBD tea and our ASTRIA SPA line.

While a drug test may not look for hemp-derived CBD, it does look for THC, which is present in all full-spectrum CBD products. According to the 2018 federal Farm Bill, hemp is defined as any cannabis sativa plant with no more than 0.3 percent THC. That’s far from enough THC to get you high like you would with marijuana plants.

Drug tests cannot distinguish between THC derived legally from hemp and THC derived illegally from marijuana. Although hemp plants have a low amount of THC, no more than 0.3%, it is enough to test positive in a drug test.

We have encountered countless reports of people losing their jobs and facing legal charges as a result of testing positive for CBD products with the federally legal amount of THC. As unfair as it is, this kind of thing happens.

With this in mind, you may feel that you should avoid full-spectrum CBD products containing trace amounts of THC if your workplace is going to be conducting drug testing. That’s why if you know a drug test is in your near future, you should probably avoid ingestible CBD products altogether and stick to using a CBD topical, regardless of dosage or serving size.

Even pure CBD isolates, which go through a process to remove THC, can cause you to test positive on marijuana drug tests, depending on whether that test is looking for THC metabolites, or the entire cannabinoid content in general. Therefore, care should be taken when purchasing CBD products. Items with a THC-free label may still contain traces of the compound. Careful reading of packaging, labels and third-party test results will help ensure that a person gets all the information they need to avoid adverse effects.

Having said all this, our recommendation is not to use CBD if you are due for a drug test in the near future. We can not guarantee it will not show up on a drug test.

All you need to know about DELTA 8

According to the National Cancer Institute, Delta 8 is an analogue of Delta 9 THC. Both cannabinoids share a similar name, chemical structure, and leave similar effects. The only difference between the two compounds that occur naturally in the hemp plant is the location of a double bond. The presence of a double bond at different carbon atoms shapes different effects of both isomers. While the two share many similar properties, such as reportedly stimulating appetite, reducing nausea, and soothing pain, Delta 8 tends to exhibit a lower psychotropic potency than Delta 9.

Available studies point to the positive impacts of Delta-8 THC. However, it is the lack of adequate research on its side effects that makes it so difficult to dispel doubts about the safety of Delta-8 THC use.

The first and one of the few research articles on Delta-8 THC was published in the Journal Life Sciences. It declared Delta 8 THC as a “new and effective anti-emetic cannabinoid in pediatric oncology”. It was conducted in a group of eight students. Two of them reported irritability when consuming the compound. One experienced the euphoric effect of Delta 8 THC. However, none of the subjects suffered serious side effects that would call into question the safety claims.

In another animal trial, subjects were given various amounts of Delta-8, ranging from 97mg/kg to 3150mg/kg. The subjects reportedly showed only some signs of depression and slowed respiratory activity. Their responses to stimuli were slower and they were under the euphoric prowess of the drug. It also acted as an anesthetic for pain in the body.

Another study in clinical pharmacology and therapeutics compared two methods of THC entry-Delta-8 and Delta-9-oral and intravenous. The two compounds were introduced to subjects in both ways and the effects were observed. Intravenous consumption of both Delta 8 and Delta 9 produced similar changes in the subjects. However, Delta-8 was observed to produce milder effects than its sibling. Oral administration caused dizziness, dry mouth and blurred vision for both compounds.

But it should be noted that no research supports the absence of long-term effects. More research is expected to be conducted in the coming years, thanks to the growing market for this product. Strong evidence will then be able to make the case for its safety in chronic users.

Importantly, the evidence of a positive impact on consumers is a major milestone in the commercial career of this compound. For now, we can be satisfied with the fact that it is milder, less psychoactive and less potent than Delta 9 THC.

However, it is best not to consume it with alcohol or any other substance or medication. And definitely contact a medical professional before using it for any specific health condition.

Delta 8 THC will give you the intoxicating effects found in THC, but its effects are a bit different. You can still focus, concentrate, and do all the things you love while having a claiming sensation.  It is still a form of THC though, and as with all cannabis products with high levels of THC, a known psychoactive compound, should always be used with caution.

We recommend you to start slow and low and assess your tolerance from there. Delta 8 THC can still cause redness of the eyes, especially in stronger doses.

According to the National Cancer Institute, Delta 8 THC can bind to the CB1 receptor throughout the body. These receptors are part of our Endocannabinoid system, which helps our body regulate and maintain homeostasis. This helps it demonstrate a variety of properties that are presented as powerful benefits. Let’s take a look at how Delta 8 THC works for patients with some of the most common health problems:

Neuroprotective properties for a healthier brain

Research suggests that Delta 8 THC may help people produce acetylcholine, which is a neurotransmitter. This neurotransmitter is responsible for memory, cognition, neuroplasticity and even arousal.

Eating disorders

In 2004, research was conducted to test the effect of delta 8 on appetite control. The conclusion of the trial was that even low doses of delta 8 stimulated an increase in food intake. In addition, keeping psychoactive effects to a minimum, Delta 8 helps to improve the digestive and immune systems. It has been shown to be beneficial for those suffering from eating disorders.

Little or no nausea due to its anti-nausea effects

In a study of children undergoing chemotherapy, it was noted that Delta 8 appears to have no negative side effects, while eliminating nausea. During the study, a 100% success rate was observed in reducing their nausea over a total of 480 treatments.

Analgesic properties

Everyone experiences pain differently, and to varying degrees, but researchers have observed Delta 8’s ability to help relieve some of that pain. This is why it is said to have analgesic properties, meaning that it can relieve pain to some degree.

People with neuropathic and inflammatory pain are most likely to benefit, but those with other types of pain may also benefit. However, more research is needed to verify these claims and to determine whether THC can relieve pain.

Anxiety

As mentioned above, Delta 8 binds to CB1 receptors throughout the body. In fact, some researchers have observed that it also binds to CB2 receptors. This binding is what helps the cannabinoid Delta 8 convince the body to better regulate pain and anxiety. The anxiolytic properties produced by Delta 8 can be beneficial in relieving the symptoms of anxiety and allow a wave of relaxation to wash over you.

Like the other active ingredients, Delta 8 helps to regulate potassium and calcium in the central nervous system. This can help improve brain function and minimize the effects of a mental disorder. However, if you are already taking medication for any of these health problems, consult a doctor before consuming Delta 8 products.

At Astria Farm we are committed to develop innovative and high quality products, you can choose from a variety of ways to consume Delta 8. These include Delta 8 gummies, Delta 8 vape cartridges, Delta 8 vape juice and Delta 8 tinctures

The fact that you have THC in your system doesn’t mean you’ve consumed Delta 9 THC, which is the form of THC actually illegal. As we said, drug tests are not finely tuned, and the room for error is far and wide. The chances of Delta 8 THC showing up on any generic drug test is not zero, simply put.

Whether you’re consuming Delta 9 THC from marijuana or Delta 8 THC from hemp, the cannabinoids metabolize into the same THC metabolites in your body. That means consuming any amount of any THC can cause you to fail a drug test. However, the legal limit is 0.03% Delta 9 THC in a CBD or hemp-derived product. That means our Delta 8 THC products, which contain 0.3% Delta 9 THC or less, are, in fact, legal to consume.

Having said all this, our recommendation is not to use Delta 8 if you are due for a drug test in the near future. We can not guarantee it will not show up on a drug test.

All you need to know about THCV

THC-V, also known as tetrahidrocannabivarina, is one of the phytocannabinoids found in the cannabis plant. THCV, as the name suggests, is a close chemical relative of THC. For those who like science, THCV has a side chain with 3 carbon atoms, while THC has a side chain with 5 carbon atoms. However, the small molecular difference has quite a marked effect on the effects and properties of THCV. It is worth noting that THCV is a completely natural component of cannabis.

Like most cannabinoids, THCV is considered safe and non-toxic. The median lethal dose (LD50) for THCV has not yet been determined, but several animal studies have administered large doses of this cannabinoid without reporting any signs of toxicity.

The main concern with THCV is appetite suppressant activity. People with eating disorders or taking medications with appetite-suppressing side effects (such as cancer therapies) should avoid THCV products.

However, it is best not to consume it with alcohol or any other substance or medication. And definitely contact a medical professional before using it for any specific health condition.

THCV can get you high. However, you will need to consume relatively high quantities of THCV before you feel any intoxicating effects. By and large, THC is still the most psychotropic cannabinoid, and the one largely responsible for the infamous high of cannabis.

THCV is still a form of THC though, and should always be used with caution. Start slow and low and assess your tolerance from there. THCV can still cause redness of the eyes, especially in stronger doses.

Although still under study, THCV is thought to be a good alternative in the treatment of various diseases and disorders, based on the results of animal research to date. The effects of this cannabinoid in humans are still under evaluation, but the evidence available leaves very good expectations. In this respect, THCV can help in the following cases:

  • Obesity and diabetes
  • Reduction of seizure activity
  • Bone growth stimulation
  • Reduces inflammation

At Astria Farm we always recommend you to contact a medical professional before using it for any specific health condition.

THCV is an analog of THC, therefore, dictates that THCV consumption results in a failed drug test. Unfortunately, it’s not quite as simple as that.

There’s conflicting information about whether THCV can cause a positive drug reading. Many users believe THCV doesn’t cause you to fail a drug test. However, studies have shown THCV to be present in urine samples two weeks after smoking only one marijuana cigarette.

Having said all this, our recommendation is not to use THC-V if you are due for a drug test in the near future. We can not guarantee it will not show up on a drug test.

All you need to know about CBN

CBN or Cannabinol is a non-psychoactive component of marijuana and hemp. This compound does not get you high on its own, but like CBD, THCV or terpenes, CBN has the ability to modulate the psychotropic effect of THC. CBN is produced by the breakdown of THC, mainly by oxidation caused by exposure of marijuana to light and oxygen. CBN is said to have therapeutic powers, which have aroused great interest in the international scientific community for its medicinal qualities. CBN is most notable for its beneficial effects against insomnia, as well as for other therapeutic functions it shares with CBD.

There are no known side effects of CBN, which is great news for those wanting to try the cannabinoid for the first time. However, there may be side effects that simply haven’t been found yet, so it is best not to consume it with alcohol or any other substance or medication. And definitely contact a medical professional before using it for any specific health condition.

You will need to consume relatively high quantities of CBN before you feel any intoxicating effects. By and large, THC is still the most psychotropic cannabinoid, and the one largely responsible for the infamous high of cannabis.

CBN is still a form of THC though, and should always be used with caution. Start slow and low and assess your tolerance from there. CBN can still cause redness of the eyes, especially in stronger doses.

CBN shows significant potential as a therapeutic tool, but research on this cannabinoid is still in its early stages. Although early indications are positive, further analysis is needed to quantify the full effects of CBN. Potential benefits include those mentioned below:

Pain relief

A 2019 study found that CBN induced strong pain-relieving effects in rats. The study also reported that this pain relief was produced by CBN reducing mechanical sensation. Also, in combination with CBD, it would offer potent muscle relaxant and analgesic effects.

Anti-inflammatory

A 2018 study on the anti-inflammatory effects of cannabinoids found that CBN has impressive anti-inflammatory properties, especially in the treatment of collagen-induced inflammatory disease arthritis.

Antibacterial

Despite not being able to identify its mechanism of action, a 2008 study published in the Journal of Natural Products highlights the antibacterial properties of several cannabinoids. Along with CBD, CBG and CBC, CBN “showed strong activity against various methicillin-resistant staphylococcus aureus” (strains of MRSA bacteria).

The study concluded that CBN was able to kill MRSA bacteria (bacteria that can cause staphylococcal infections, which cause boils and blisters and can even be fatal in some circumstances), which is especially impressive considering that MRSA is particularly difficult to treat as it is resistant to many types of antibiotics.

Improve appetite

A 2012 study investigated the effects on eating behavior in rats. Rats given CBN experienced a significant increase in appetite and frequency of food intake, highlighting the potential of this cannabinoid to increase appetite.

Neuroprotective

A study conducted by the University of Washington in 2005 found that CBN was able to significantly delay the onset of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), a neurodegenerative disorder.

The researchers wanted to know whether this cannabinoid influences disease progression and survival rate. They concluded that a treatment of 5mg/kg/day “delayed disease onset by more than two weeks, while the survival rate was not affected”.

Glaucoma

A 2007 study conducted by the Hebrew University of Jerusalem has gone on to demonstrate a correlation between glaucoma and hypertension. Fortunately, CBN was one of the compounds that appears to reduce intraocular pressure (IOP), and is therefore a possible alternative for glaucoma sufferers.

Improves skin

CBN may be a potential treatment for skin conditions such as psoriasis or burns when used topically.

Promotes sleep

As we know, CBN has shown some impressive pain-reducing effects, and it is this pain relief that could help you sleep. Pain can significantly affect your ability to get quality sleep, so CBN could improve sleep by reducing pain levels.

Research with mice found that CBN prolonged sleep duration, while other research indicates that the sedative effects of CBN are enhanced when used in combination with THC.

Anecdotally, CBN users report that it is an effective sleep aid, not only in inducing sleep but also in prolonging its duration. At present, CBN has not been widely studied for its sleep benefits. As research develops, it is possible that more objective evidence of CBN’s efficacy will emerge.

At Astria Farm we are committed to develop innovative and high quality products, which is why we have launched our first products made with CBN. Try now our CBN gummies Berry Blend 300 mg D8 300 mg CBN. A Berry Blend mix of Cranberry, Blueberry, Blackberry, Blue Razz, Strawberry.

Although CBN is a metabolite of THC in the human body, it is also not the metabolite that THC consumption tests usually uncover. However, recent research has shown that when it comes to CBN, the answer is a strong “maybe”.

There are many different tests on the market, and some manufacturers’ tests have been shown to give a positive result when only CBN is present. In these tests, it also seems to have a cumulative effect with THC and other metabolites, causing false positives when the level of the cannabinoid tested is still technically below the detection threshold.

Given that you have no way of knowing who produced your screening test, and the list of tests investigated is far from exhaustive, you have to assume that yes, CBN could cause a drug test failure.

Having said all this, our recommendation is not to use CBN if you are due for a drug test in the near future. We can not guarantee it will not show up on a drug test.
